February Open Mic Night at The Forge
Community Forge hosted the first of our Spring Open Mic Series Friday, February 17th in our Atrium! The night was absolutely jam packed with talent. Hosted by The Forge’s own Jacquea Mae, performers from all over the Pittsburgh area came together to share in their love of art. Musicians included singers, rappers, guitarists, brass instrumentalists, and even a traditional Native American flute. The spoken word poetry and storytelling was beautiful, as artists told their stories about racism, immigration, womanhood, and many other captivating subjects.
Food and drink were catered by local black owned businesses Dirty Birds Chicken and TLC Libations, and beauty products were sold by Naptural Beauty Supply! At over 150 attendees, this open mic was our biggest yet. We are so thankful for everyone who came out to this awesome celebration of art and community, and hope to make March’s Open Mic Night even better. See you on the 17th!
